Rome

«Rome is the capital of the world. In this city is linked the entire history of the world, and I count on being born a second time, to be truly risen, the day I set foot in Rome. The beauty I have raised gradually until their height.»

Johann Wolfgang Goethe

The brothers Romulus and Remus founded Rome, the eternal city, in 753 BC. For the first 3000 years it was the greatest metropolis of humanity.

Built on seven hills and crossed by the Tiber River, the city boasts over 16% of the cultural heritage of the world. Rome has the highest concentration of historical and architectural feats; it hosts some of the world’s most famous sights such as the Colosseum, the Vatican, the Roman Forum, and the Spanish Steps.

The historic center of the city, surrounded by ancient Aurelian walls, has been considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1980 thanks to more than 25,000 points of environmental and archaeological interest.
